...???

I'm sure a lot of readers (IE, family, friends, and former college professors) may not have heard about the really, really bizarre teaser... trailer... thingie at the beginning of the Transformers flick. However, the Internet world/blogosphere has been nuts over it. I remember reading or hearing something about bizarre footage, but I had no idea what it was and completely forgot until I saw this. So, obviously, I now join the "WTF?!?" ranks.

This is the footage below in a total not-TMM exclusive, assuming it's still up since Paramount is annihilating anything on YouTube. Movie studios are usually pretty easy going with trailers and teasers so, as the famous Hermes Conrad once said, that just raises further questions!

So, here's what we know so far....
*It's some sort of disaster movie, heavily implied to be a ginormous monster attack
*The perspective is from a bunch of youngsters at some farewell party
*It's filmed in a way resembling The Blair Witch Project (hand held camera), yet... not stupid, and has a quality (IMPersonalO) evocative of 9/11
*It's set in New York
*It has no official title
*Fake/working titles include 1-18-01, Slusho, and Cloverfield
*JJ Abrams is involved, and the writer is from Lost, Buffy and Angel

Okay, I'll be honest... does this imagery upset me, or make me uneasy? Sure it does... the first time I saw it. But, now, I'm... transfixed. I honestly am. And considering the subject matter, it has to be pretty awesome if it makes me overlook the whole "mass destruction in New York City" aura.

Anyone got any ideas?

If you become as "WTF?!" as I have, just keep searching for Cloverfield. However, it has been said "Ethan Hass" is completely unrelated, in case he pops up...
